In his retirement, Jock and Joan live in ‘Hope House’ which he designed and had built in the quiet hamlet of Winderton, Oxfordshire. Here he focuses on family, his ancestry, gardening his fruit and vegetables, and writing what he described as a ‘Chaucerian’ novel.
